Germanly is a German language learning platform at germanly.pexilim.com. It is operated as an independent product by Pexilim, a micro-enterprise (MSME) based in India.

2. What We Collect

When you create an account

  • Email address
  • Password (stored encrypted — we never see it in plain text)
  • Account creation date

When you use the app

  • Your learning progress (units completed, XP, streak, flashcard history)
  • Your writing submissions (text you write for AI feedback)
  • Your chat sessions with the AI conversation partner
  • Which features you use and when (basic usage logs)

When you pay

Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or any payment details. We only receive confirmation that payment succeeded and the date it occurred.

Automatically

  • Browser type and device type (for bug fixing)
  • Approximate country (not precise location)
  • Pages visited within the app

3. What We Do NOT Collect

  • Precise location or GPS data
  • Phone number
  • Any data from your device outside the app
  • Data about you from third-party sources

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

5. Third Parties We Use

Supabase

Database and authentication. Your account data and progress are stored on Supabase servers (EU region where possible). · supabase.com/privacy

Stripe

Payment processing. You interact directly with Stripe's checkout. We receive only a payment confirmation. · stripe.com/privacy

Groq

AI responses for writing feedback, conversation partner, and word explanations. Groq does not use your inputs to train their models. · groq.com/privacy

Deutsche Welle

Audio content for listening practice. DW audio is publicly available and streamed directly. No personal data is shared with DW.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase with row-level security — only your account can read your own data. Passwords are hashed. Payment data is never stored on our servers.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or EEA, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to fix incorrect data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your account and all associated data
  • Export — receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent — stop us from processing your data

8. Data Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is deleted within 30 days. Anonymised usage statistics may be retained for product improvement.

9. Cookies

Essential cookies only — required to keep you logged in. No advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies.

10. Children

Not intended for users under 16. Email us if you believe a child has an account.

11. Changes

We notify you by email if we make significant changes.
